Alain Auriant

Executive Director

Carries overall responsibility for the organisation and its direction.

Phil Auriant

Manager

Manages the five programmes, and wrote and implemented the daycare service that opened in 2024. Went through the Workshop of Hope himself, as one of the children in Rose-Belle the association was built for.

Phil Auriant

Manager

Phil Auriant has managed Mouvement Forces Vives since 2022, after five years as its project coordinator. He is from Rose-Belle, and he sat in the Workshop of Hope as a boy, one of the children the association had been set up for.

He manages the five programmes. He wrote the project for Atelier des Tout-Petits, the free daycare for children from three months to three years, and implemented it through to its opening in 2024. He still teaches a Grade 9 English class every week.

He read Political Sciences at the University of Mauritius, graduating in 2017 with a thesis on Africa’s human rights architecture, and holds a master’s in management and international trade from the Université de Poitiers, awarded in 2022.

In 2022 he co-founded Views Records, a social enterprise that gives young people a recording studio, a trade and a route into work. He has been a member of DIS-MOI, the Indian Ocean human rights organisation, since 2014 and sits on its board.

Ruben Mootoosamy

Daycare Manager

Responsible for Atelier des Tout-Petits and the children in its care.

Hiya Hurree

Psychosocial Support Officer

Begins with one child in the Workshop of Hope and works outward to the whole household. Listening sessions, social security paperwork, job applications, and afternoons spent with the students through tuition.

Hiya Hurree

Psychosocial Support Officer

Hiya joined Atelier Sa Nou Vize in February 2025, a few months before graduating, and works as Psychosocial Support Officer.

Her work starts with one child in the Workshop of Hope and then widens to take in the whole household. She sees the child and the parents separately, asks what each of them is carrying, and builds a plan with them rather than for them.

A good deal of the job is practical. She goes with families to the social security office. She helps the people who walk in with allowance claims and job applications. She runs the WhatsApp groups where vacancies are circulated, and in the afternoons she sits with the students through tuition, talking with them and watching how they are in class.

The rest is listening.

Listening sessions, though they may seem useless, matter enormously to someone who needs a genuine listening ear to vent, cry or talk about their difficulties.

What she values is the moment somebody cries without shame, leaves visibly lighter than they came in, or carries on talking to her because they feel comfortable doing so.

She holds a BSc in Psychology with First Class Honours from the University of Mauritius, awarded in August 2025. Before Atelier Sa Nou Vize she volunteered for three years with a mental health organisation, working in counselling, listening sessions and psychoeducational activities, and spent a year on placement in a special needs school.

Melissa Duval

Administrative Secretary

Keeps the administration, records and correspondence of the organisation in order.

Elodie Permalloo

Education & Communications Facilitator

Runs the Workshop of Hope, the remedial education programme, and handles the organisation’s communications. Came to education after ten years in health.

Elodie Permalloo

Education & Communications Facilitator

Elodie Permalloo joined Mouvement Forces Vives in May 2025 and runs the Workshop of Hope, the remedial education programme that supports children through after-school classes and other learning activities. She also handles the organisation’s communications, preparing the material that carries its work to the community and to its partners.

She came to education from health. She spent ten years alongside people living with diabetes at T1 Diams, three of them as a diabetes educator and seven as communication officer. In 2024 she moved into a private school, and from there to the association.

Her day divides in two. Half of it goes to communications and administrative support, sharing what the programmes are doing and helping bring partners and supporters to the mission. The rest goes to the Workshop of Hope itself, preparing remedial classes and learning activities for the children and planning the special holiday programmes. She holds a BA in French from the University of Mauritius, which underpins both halves of the work.

What she wants people to see is children gaining confidence, getting past their learning difficulties and beginning to believe in their own potential. Every child, she says, deserves the chance to learn, progress and build a better future.
